Review Extracts

“Brandstrup’s movement language is fluently lyrical, whirling arabesques cutting across the diagonals. He writes the mime straight into the dance, so the story is always on the move, while characters who lurk on the sidelines are given richly expressive cameos”

Debra Craine,
The Times

"Brandstrup mounts a large and immaculate production for his company, and the audience swoons for 110 minutes over Mukhamedov’s panther leaps, luscious feet, bare chest, silky style and virile partnering

…there is a ripple decadence in all the movement that makes the production tingle. "

Anne Sacks, Evening Standard

Programme Note

The Royal Ballet star Irek Mukhamedov and choreographer Kim Brandstrup reunite for The Return of Don Juan. The full length work is a dramatic comedy which tells the story of the legendary lothario lured out of hellish retirement for a final mission: to seduce the only girl of unassailable virtue

The Return of Don Juan follows the present-day trials and tribulations of the legendary lothario, catapulted out of Hell into a film studio during the shooting of Don Giovanni. Past and present, fiction and fantasy merge; old and new are confronted in a contemporary comedy of manners.Read
