“.. choreographed in restrained style by Kim Brandstrup”
- Rupert Christiansen, The Daily Telegraph
Kim Brandstrup reprised his fruitful creative association with director Deborah Warner to choreograph ENO’s new staging of Handel’s Messiah, marking the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death.
The two first worked together in 2007 on Britten’s Death in Venice, also for ENO.
Handel’s work remains one of the most popular choral pieces in the repertoire. Through staged action and dance Warner and Brandstrup explored the profundities and hidden meanings of the work, which touches on the deep implications of good and evil, the past and the future, and the belief in the final victory over sin, death and decay.
